Amber, who manages our website, had this adorable baby, Quinn.
We were pleased to welcome her with a baby blanket,
with an appropriate quote from Pride and Prejudice (Ch 31):

"You mean to frighten me, Mr. Darcy, by coming in all this state to hear me?
But I will not be alarmed though your sister does play so well.
There is a stubbornness about me that never can bear to be frightened at the will of others.
My courage always rises with every attempt to intimidate me."

Wednesday 13 July: Love and Friendship
Members and their friends were guests of Mr Zeynep Smith of Tracey Mair Publicity at a preview of the new film based on Jane Austen’s “Lady Susan”. What a refreshing film it was. While not entirely true to the novella (like all the others?), it retained its mood and context.
The novella ends abruptly so the director/writer felt free to augment the ending; there were different views on the success of this. The settings, costumes and performances were all very good. And there were many good laughs all based on and/or extending Austen’s humour. Many thanks to Mr Smith for giving us the opportunity to see the film.
